Teen Summer Camps

Author: Jimmy Sturo

There are different summer programs for teenagers. These summer camps are as unique as each individual teenager. If you are interested in joining a teen summer camp, the best way for you to locate the type of camp that you would enjoy is to find the camp that would suit your interests.

Many teen summer camps specialize in sailing and scuba diving, waterskiing, wakeboarding, and snorkeling programs. Most of them have accredited marine scientists as camp counselors, so that teens can learn about tropical marine biology and oceanography if they want to take an extra course.

There are also teen summer camps that specialize in providing hiking, trekking, and island exploration adventures to teenagers. Some sports and community service activities are also offered on the side.

Some teen camps allow teenagers to live together aboard 50-foot sailing yachts and hold their camps in such places as the British Virgin Islands, Leeward Islands, Australia, the Galapagos Islands, Tahiti, and the Mediterranean.

Teen summer camps usually charge "per module," each one costing from $3,500 to $4,500 (payable over the course of the camp). Teens may enroll in multiple modules. This tuition is all-inclusive. It covers everything from sailing and diving equipment, trekking equipment, instruction and certification costs, yacht charter costs, trips and excursions, and of course, food.

Teen camps usually ask for a $500 advance. You typically have to enroll at least one or two months in advance, because teen summer camps get packed pretty quickly. Most camps do not refund your money after a certain time has elapsed (usually two weeks after payment).
